Cold Blue Ice 24x24"

Cold Blue Ice is an intensely powerful work of art!  I painted this while reflecting on the Dave Matthews song "Grey Street". This song is relatable to many who suffer from depression.  Overall the song is not very encouraging yet resonates well with those who have been in this place. When I painted this I kept in mind the fact that we can all try to cover ourselves with bright colors but for those who are suffering from mental illnesses, the warmth of these colors often fades to something cold. I added a bright, small strip of ripped up canvas on the bottom of the piece to give some dimension but also to pull down the bright colors to give hope that help is there and this can be overcome.
